Civil

Job Title: Senior Civil Engineers/Project Managers ( Hazleton, PA)

Description: Our Land Services Division has terrific opportunities for experienced Civil Engineers (P.E. required) to lead the civil engineering teams in land development and municipal engineering projects. This position is ideally suited for someone with demonstrated project management and leadership success.

Our Civil Engineering Department works on a variety of project types, including: Commercial land developments, Institutional land developments (i.e., schools), and Residential subdivisions.

Duties: As a Senior Civil Engineer, your main objectives will be: providing technical direction and leadership to the team via staff development and management; assisting in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects; project accountability (assuring that the technical, person-hour, budget, and schedule targets are met); and client relations.

Requirements:

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Five or more years experience in site planning and land development (including: design of grading, storm water management, soil erosion prevention and roadways);
  • Experience in client relations;
  • History of profitable project management;
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers;
  • Ability to attend client meetings and travel between offices.

Environmental

Job Title: Environmental Department Manager

Description: We are actively searching for the right individual to lead a diverse environmental team and manage/build client relations. This position is ideally suited for someone with demonstrated progressive advancement and leadership success. Although BIA is headquartered near Allentown, PA, this position has the flexibility to be based out of any of our PA Offices. The Department Head will provide oversight and lend support to projects, clients, and staff in our PA and NJ offices.

Duties: The Department Head will lead a technical staff that conducts:

  • Phase I & II Environmental Site Assessments;
  • Geology/Hydrogeology Studies;
  • UST Removal and Closure;
  • Wetland Delineation and Permitting;
  • Sewage Disposal Testing;
  • Asbestos/Lead Based Paint Testing and Reports;
  • Mold Investigations;
  • Air Permitting and Air Quality Testing;
  • Sinkhole Investigation and Remediation.

Requirements:

Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Description: This is a field/office position that will be working in the Hazleton and Lehigh Valley offices. In addition to performing the duties listed below, the candidate must be capable of independent work, be able to read maps and plans to locate themselves in the field and have strong writing skills. Although independent work is a significant part of this position, you must also be able to work well in a team setting, as project teams may consist of interdepartmental staff members.

Mechanical Electrical Plumbing

Job Title: Mechanical or Electrical Designer/Staff Engineer

Description: As part of the Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) Department, you will work on various project types, including:

  • Institutional
  • Multi-use properties
  • Office buildings

  • Tenant fit-out projects

Because you may be involved in several projects at one time, involving several team members (such as project manager, engineer, and a CAD technician), we are looking for good communicators, who are able to multi-task, and work well with others.

Duties: Working under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the primary responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Training on all aspects of the design process on a technical level. This includes CADD training, HVAC engineering, Architectural engineering and/or plumbing.
  • Contacting regulatory agencies and municipalities in the execution of assigned tasks
  • Assisting in the preparation of construction documents
  • Attending client meetings with project engineer.
  • Performing HVAC calculations
  • Designing systems

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • EIT preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Communication skills are emphasized, as we need to work effectively as a team and relate to the client.



Structural

Job Title: Geotechnical Engineer

Description: We will be offering Geotechnical Engineering as a new service to our clients and are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to start up and lead this division.

Duties: Duties/responsibilities will include developing and implementing field and laboratory testing programs, bearing capacity, settlement and deep foundation analysis, preparation of reports, project management, and management of others.

Requirements: Candidates should have 10 years of experience with a minimum of a Bachelors degree, PE license in Pennsylvania and project management experience. A master's degree in geotechnical engineering is a plus



Job Title: Senior Engineer Department Head

Description: Structural Department Head will lead department teams and manage/build client relations. This position is ideally suited for someone with demonstrated progressive advancement and leadership success.

Although the department and position is based in our Lehigh Valley office, travel to the Hazelton and Valley Forge offices will be required to support projects, clients, and staff in those markets.

Duties: The Department Head will lead 12 engineers and technicians and be responsible for a variety of clients including architects, local industry, institutional facilities, and government agencies who involve us diverse projects including: public and private educational facilities; commercial office buildings; industrial buildings; and residential projects. There is also the potential to support our forensic/special engineering department by performing analysis of building materials and determining causes of structural failures/damages via site investigations.

Requirements:

  • Master’s in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum ten years of experience.
  • P.E. (registered in Pennsylvania or be able to transfer registration to PA).
