The American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) has recognized Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. (BIA) for “Engineering Excellence” for its role in the design of Liberty Property Trust’s Lot 3A/Liberty Business Center in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County, PA. BIA provided site design and related services in the design of the 920,000 square-foot commercial flex building, the first industrial building in the Lehigh Valley to be recognized by the US Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®). The project received Silver Certification as a LEED® Core and Shell Building (LEED®-CS) in a separate ceremony held at the building,William Bumber, Liberty Property Trust’s project manager for the building, was presented the Silver Award, by Larry Rowland of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the US Green Building Council. Lot 3A/Liberty Business Center was one of 33 projects recognized state-wide by ACEC/PA, and the only one in the industrial/warehouse sector. For over ten years, BIA has provided a wide range of engineering services to Liberty Property Trust’s Lehigh Valley office, playing an instrumental role in the development of its regional portfolio.

BIA has been involved with the site design and permitting of many large-scale projects in the 329-acre Liberty Business Center, where the Silver Certified LEED® Core and Shell Building is located.

The ACEC/PA, which represents 132 member firms, sponsors the annual Diamond Awards event “to recognize the outstanding contributions of Pennsylvania consulting engineering firms for enhancing the social and economic welfare of the Commonwealth and its citizens.”

Mr. Bumber represented Liberty Property Trust at the ACEC/PA awards presentation, which took place at the Hotel Hershey, in Hershey, PA, in February. Kevin Campbell, PE, LEED AP, executive vice-president, and Warren Riggins, PE, the project engineer, represented BIA.

In previous years, ACEC/PA recognized BIA’s work on projects for Olympus North America, DeSales University, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, the Owen J. Roberts School District, Lehigh University, Parkland School District, and Bensalem Township, Bucks County, PA.
