Barry Isett & Associates (BIA) has extensive experience in all aspects of the development, design, and maintenance of educational facilities.
Our experience includes:
Our projects have involved elementary schools, secondary schools, and universities, with designs ranging from libraries, to chapels, to maintenance buildings.
Site Feasibility Evaluation and Land Planning
Site Selection
Preliminary Site Evaluation entails a desktop review and evaluation of critical environmental and engineering concerns related to the suitability of the site. A Feasibility Study, including testing for radon, wetlands, hazardous chemicals, and geophysical and hydrological characteristics, is completed for the site. Engineering surveys may include boundary, topographic, and wetlands. Feasibility of water and sewer services are also investigated.
Site Development
Development plans are prepared consisting of a base plan of the existing topography and boundary, and an overlay of the proposed improvements to buildings, drives, parking, storm water management systems, sedimentation & erosion control, traffic, and all utilities. BIA secures all necessary approvals from the applicable regulatory agencies, including the DEP, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Soil Conservation District, and the Department of Transportation.
Facilities Design
- Civil engineering designs water distribution and sewer collection;
- Environmental services designs water and wastewater treatment systems;
- Structural engineering handles structural design and investigations;
- Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineers capable of providing heating, ventilating, air conditioning, fire safety and electrical services.
- Develop operation and preventative maintenance plans and records.
- Prepare Computer-based archives of the site, related infrastructure, and facility drawings.
- Conduct an Energy usage analysis and develop plans for energy reduction and implementation, including projected cost savings.
- Provide Long-term facility sizing, including capital budgeting.
