FORENSIC ENGINEERING

BIA Forensic Engineering investigates materials, products, structures, or components that fail or do not function as intended.  Using technical knowledge and professional experience, our engineers provide objective evidence for property owners, insurance companies, courts of law, and others in settling disputes, establishing causal relationships, determining liability, and/or designing repairs.  BIA employ's the same kind of analysis to determine the design approaches that are appropriate for the design of the adaptive reuse of structures.  BIA provides a wide range of services including:

  • Structural Condition Assessments (pre-purchase/due diligence)

Buildings - Retaining Walls - Pavement/Sidewalks - Dam and Bridge Inspections

  • Structural Feasibility Studies (for building modifications/support of new loads)

Additional stories - Signs, solar panels, green roofs - Process-related modifications for industry

  • Structural Repair, Retrofit, and Rehab including historical

Scope may involve any of the above specialty areas and may involve any or all of the following service areas:

  • Technical analysis of complaint (merit of the case)
  • Technical assistance in preparation of interrogatories/case preparation
  • Recommending and witnessing protocol testing
  • Evaluation of technical expert reports
  • Preparation of technical expert reports
  • Compliance evaluation with regulations/standards

**BIA also performs annual bleacher inspections to school districts mandated by the Internationl Construction Code/American National Standards Institute's 2007 Edition; Section 501.2
