CLIENT/OWNER: BENSALEM TOWNSHIP
The BIA Environmental Department managed the restoration and replacement of wetlands as part of a building program at the Bensalem Township municipal complex. Throughout the years, the site had been used as an illegal dump and extraneous, non-natural materials had compromised the integrity of the area. The BIA Environmental Department reviewed all DEP files on the site, conducted extensive negotiations with DEP, and designed a remediation plan. The BIA approach involved identifying and segregating materials as they were unearthed--thus keeping usable soil on site and hauling off only the debris. The firm saved Bensalem Township taxpayers approximately $2 million in overall costs, and the Township went on to build an amphitheater and band shell on an adjacent seven-acre site.
