Car owners everywhere know East Penn Manufacturing as the makers of Deka Battery. Recognized as a world leader in lead-acid battery technology, the company manufactures thousands of different types of batteries, cable and wire products as well as battery products for the automotive, industrial, commercial, marine, stationary and specialty markets. East Penn Manufacturing is the world's largest battery manufacturing facility, with over two million square feet on a 490-acre campus. Since the mid 1990s, BIA has helped the company with numerous projects ranging from simple structural analysis to the engineering design of large-scale additions, often working directly for the company but also as a consultant to an architectural firm. Over the years, BIA has provided services including structural engineering, code review, construction observation, field coordination with contractor, punchlist, and project close out. In 2002, BIA provided the structural engineering design and drawings and code review for the construction of a Garage Injection Modeling facility of 107,000 square feet. Other projects have included the design of office renovations to the A-2 building and the design of an addition to the A-4 building to house mixing and compressor functions.
