In 1998, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority engaged BIA to prepare plans for a new long-term, 500-car parking facility with a construction value of $1.6 million. BIA's development of the parking area was prepared in coordination with airport operations, proposed PennDOT improvements along an adjacent state road, and the physical constraints of the property. The scope of services included the development of several plans:
- A site layout plan indicating the location of all proposed features, including the parking lot and relocated roadway, striping, revenue control devices, and fencing.
- A grading and drainage plan, including the detailing of storm water collection, conveyance and detention systems.
- A landscaping plan designed to buffer the parking area with a minimum impact on maintenance.
- An erosion control plan and details.
- Lighting, electrical, and revenue control plans.
BIA services also included a topographic survey, coordinating a geotechnical investigation, preparing construction drawings, coordinating approvals with the required authorities, and assisting in the bidding process. In February 2000, the Airport Authority engaged BIA to provide design service to upgrade and integrate into LVIA's current site plan a parking area once used for the original terminal building. The project included the relocation of an existing road. The scope of services included the design of a four-lane toll booth, bus stops, lighting, and the placement of security cameras and emergency phones. The construction value of the project was $800,000.
