BIA has been given the opportunity to design several projects in the educational sector. "Green" design has been growing in popularity, drawing in the environmental, health, and community benefits that come with LEED certified projects.
The Allentown School District’s 153 million dollar Capital Improvement Program involves the renovation and expansion of five existing school buildings and the design and construction of a new elementary school. BIA is also providing structural engineering design for the high school projects. The following projects are being designed to LEED standards.
Roosevelt Elementary School
An 80,000 square-foot addition to an existing elementary school
William Allen High School
In addition to renovations to the main building, a freestanding four-story addition will be built across the street from the main campus. The new structure will feature a green roof for stormwater management.
Jackson Elementary School
A new three-story school will be built on the campus of the existing school. Three neighboring commercial/industrial properties are being acquired and demolished to allow for campus expansion.
