Construction has begun on the Gambet Center for Business and Healthcare Education at DeSales University in Center Valley, PA. The 77,000 SF building was designed by Breslin, Ridyard, Fadero Architects of Allentown, PA, to seek silver certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines. The project is expected to be ready for occupancy in May 2013. BIA is providing survey, civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture and environmental services in the design of the 27-million-dollar building. Alvin H. Butz, Inc. is the construction manager.
The center will feature four smart classrooms, a seminar classroom, and a specialized business classroom that will include an electronic ticker tape and simulated trader stations. Students in the healthcare programs will have the benefit of simulation laboratories featuring beds, examination stations and a teaching area.
The building name honors President Emeritus Daniel G. Gambet, O.S.F.S., who was also the university’s first academic dean and a mainstay in a number of local and regional organizations, including the Harry C. Trexler Trust, Executive Service Corps of the Lehigh Valley, Keystone Nazareth Charitable Foundation, and the Minsi Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
