A Glass Addition

Isett was asked to provide geotechnical recommendations for a vestibule addition to the existing Jaindl Family Pavilion at the LVHN Children’s Hospital.  The addition was designed with a mostly-glass exterior to provide for a dramatic, bright entrance into the hospital.  The subsurface in the proposed area for the addition was comprised of non-homogeneous, loose fill from prior construction activities.

Since glass exteriors are very intolerant to settlement, Isett’s team recommended helical anchors to economically provide soil support for the proposed addition.  When the budget numbers for the helical anchor foundations were extremely expensive, Isett obtained a cost estimate from a licensed installer that better fit the budget.
