Building on a Jan. 1 reorganization to position for further growth, engineering and consulting firm Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. has formed three new departments and chosen associates to lead them.
Isett recently created departments for Landscape Architecture; Transportation; and Municipal, Water & Wastewater. Previously, these disciplines were part of the company’s Municipal Engineering Department.
Leading the Landscape Architecture Department is Bryan Smith, RLA, ASLA, who has 25 years of experience in the field and has been with Isett since 2002. Mr. Smith and his team will build upon key services like park master planning, streetscape and trail design, and construction documentation for outdoor spaces, and expand others to meet ever-changing client needs. The department is renewing its commitment to the latest technology to offer visually stunning design capabilities, which can include 2-D and 3-D renderings.
Ryan Kern, PE, will serve as head of the new Transportation Department. Mr. Kern, an Isett associate for more than 20 years, will oversee department operations that include traffic impact studies, street and roadway design, traffic signal design, PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit submissions and reviews, PennDOT design-build projects, ADA curb ramp design and public storm sewer design.
The Municipal, Water & Wastewater Department will be led by Stan Wojciechowski, PE, CME, who joined Isett in 2018 with almost 30 years of engineering experience in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as municipal engineer for Macungie Borough as well as Allen and Weisenberg townships.
The new departments are part of Isett’s Public Division. To begin 2021, the company’s leadership created the Public Division, along with the Design Division and Field Division, in a restructuring meant to better organize and accommodate growth among its many diverse disciplines.
Isett also recently named two other associates, Jennifer Potter, PG, and Tom Kolesa, PLS, as department heads for Environmental Consulting and Survey, respectively. Ms. Potter joined the firm’s Capital Region office in 2020 after two decades of work in project management and investigation in the geotechnical engineering industry. Mr. Kolesa has almost 20 years of surveying experience in Pennsylvania and Nevada, having last served as a senior land surveyor and safety director at another engineering consulting firm in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Founded by Barry E. Isett, PE, PLS, F.NSPE, in 1977 in the Lehigh Valley, Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. has expanded to eight offices in eastern and central Pennsylvania, in Allentown, Hazleton, Mechanicsburg, Phoenixville, Stroudsburg, Wilkes-Barre and Wyomissing, and at a soon-to-be new location in Bucks County.
