The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley (VCLV) recently hosted their Annual Spirit of Volunteerism Event at DeSales University. This event—now in its 17th year—is designed to recognize volunteers in our community. Businesses of all sizes in the Lehigh Valley acknowledge their company and employees for their volunteer commitment to the community. Businesses and non-profits are encouraged to nominate fellow businesses or individual employees who—through volunteering—have had an impact in in the Lehigh Valley.
Emma Yeh, E.I.T, is a dedicated member of Barry Isett & Associate’s Municipal Services group and was nominated by the firm’s President and CEO, Kevin Campbell, PE, LEED AP. Emma was chosen for her contributions to her community as well as her service to the Isett community.
Since joining Isett approximately two-and-a-half years ago, Ms. Yeh has dedicated more than 120 hours of service to an assortment of causes. She has been a three-time member of Team IsettCAN! as part of CANstruction of the Lehigh Valley. Ms. Yeh has dedicated her knowledge and time to support the VCLV’s Volunteer Challenge and Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls. This year, she dedicated her efforts to staff a booth at the inaugural PA STEAM Fest to educate attendees about the impacts of “fatbergs” in our wastewater systems. In addition, Ms. Yeh regularly dedicates her time to the Lehigh Valley Emerging Professionals, the Young Professionals of Isett, and serves as a Community Ambassador for the Allentown Vision 2030 Master Plan.
Barry Isett & Associates is guided by four values: Team, Ownership, Balance and Service. Ms. Yeh embodies each of the values of Isett; however, she stands out when it comes to service. Isett associates serve their clients, colleagues and the greater community. Her response to service is “Yes, and…” which results in meaningful outcomes for the organizations and projects upon which she extends her time. Ms. Yeh’s dedication to service is not driven by recognition; rather, to have direct and important impacts on diverse audiences.
When asked about the nomination, Kevin Campbell noted, “Emma has been an integral part of the culture of Barry Isett & Associates. She is often at the center of bringing together our company’s young professionals and further spreading the values of our firm.” Ryan Kern, PE, Board of Directors-Elected Employee, Department Head, Municipal Engineering Services, echoed the same sentiment, “Emma embodies the Isett value of service. She will regularly seek out opportunities to serve the greater community, her fellow associates at Isett, as well as the firm’s clients. Emma’s volunteer efforts have a lasting and meaningful impact.”
