Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. offers a robust internship program for students to engage in any of Isett’s disciplines, working alongside professionals and engaging in weekly activities. This program complements academic curriculum with practical experience, turning “inside of the classroom” learning into “outside of the classroom” understanding. Meet the talented students working at Isett for the Summer of 2024:
Crystal Decker, Marketing
“I am currently a student at Northampton Community College dual majoring in Communication Design: New Media, and Communication Design: Print & Web degree. What led me to the Graphic Design career path is the creative side of art. I’ve been drawing digital art since I was 11. It started with Microsoft Paint and a laptop trackpad. Ever since then I fell in love with art and wanted to turn it into a career. In my free time, I enjoy drawing. If I am not drawing, I am doing something outside. My mom and I just completed a 10-mile paddle down the Delaware River in a canoe.
Kyle Minarich, Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing Engineering
“I spent 2 years at Pennsylvania College of Technology in the Engineering Design Technology program. This fall, I am transferring to Penn State to pursue Mechanical Engineering. Growing up, I always knew that engineering was the right path for me. I enjoy math and have always been mechanically inclined. What I find most interesting so far are the physics principles that influence design. I really enjoy fishing in my free time. My favorite species to fish for is smallmouth bass; however, I also target fish such as walleye and panfish. Other activities I enjoy include playing guitar and biking.
Kyle Platton, Landscape Architecture
“I decided on my major when I realized I wanted a career that would allow me to be creative and make an impact on the world. In my experience, I have found landscape architecture allows for lots of creativity and is a profession that shapes the world around us, from small parks to large corporate centers. I love art so any chance I get I am drawing, or looking at other artists works. Other than that, I like to hike, do yoga, and bake.”
Lauren Walls, Structural Engineering
“I am a civil and environmental engineering major with an interest in structural engineering. My father is also a civil engineer, and I grew up helping him with projects around the house and always enjoyed problem solving. He would take me to various job sites, show me around and explain how the different disciplines played a part in the project. The civil sides of the project stood out to me, so I decided to major in civil and environmental engineering. Now that I am taking engineering courses, I am really enjoying the structural courses and hope to continue in that area of work. I currently attend Rowan University and I am a part of the women’s swim team. When I am not swimming, I enjoy playing pickle ball with friends and jet skiing with my family.”
