November’s Values in Action honoree is Cody Callahan from our Civil Land Development department! Cody has been living our Team value in and outside the office, consistently going out of his way to put others first. In this particular instance, when a colleague was helping a family member recover from major surgery, Cody collected donations, ordered and delivered dinner for them and their extended family. Cody grew up playing sports, so finding a company that has a team-like atmosphere has always been important to him. Being a part of the Civil Department has met that desire.
First working as an intern during college and continuing on as a full-time associate at Isett, Cody has enjoyed coming into work each day because of the people on his team. They joke around, which helps keep the work from feeling like the monotonous grind that it can be—especially when projects begin to drag on. When projects don’t go as planned or issues arise, no one points fingers; they all work together to figure out how to get the job done. Everyone is willing to help each other out at a moment’s notice, whether it’s work related or personal. In this case, when Cody reached out about helping their colleague, everyone said yes without hesitation.
As a Project Manager in Isett’s Civil Land Development Department, Cody is responsible for coordinating with clients, various project teams within Isett, conservation districts, and municipalities. He oversees and reviews stormwater and erosion and sedimentation control designs, as well as NPDES permit application packages that are prepared and submitted. Some current projects in his workload include Dual Temp Headquarters, a land development project in the City of Allentown that proposes a new storage building and parking lot as well as converting an existing storage building into a three-story office building; Schnecksville Kings Land Development project in North Whitehall Township involving a medical office building, gas station, automobile parts store, and self-storage facility; Minto Gastropub Apartment Addition in Bethlehem—a three-story apartment addition to an existing restaurant building; and Nestle Purina Wastewater Treatment Upgrades, which involves a new wastewater treatment plant at the South Whitehall facility.
Cody has always enjoyed puzzles and problem solving, and each project at Isett has felt like its own puzzle because no two are exactly the same. Working together with each project team and seeing the end result after it’s been constructed continues to be rewarding.
