When a member of the operations team experienced an unexpected family loss and needed time away from work, Michael Cosentino, BCO, stepped up without hesitation. His willingness to take on additional responsibilities, support his colleagues, and ensure uninterrupted service to clients earned him recognition as Barry Isett & Associates’ (Isett) June Values in Action Award winner.
Nominated for exemplifying the firm’s Service, Team, Ownership, and Balance values, Michael demonstrated exceptional leadership during a challenging time. While balancing his own responsibilities, he coordinated assignments, managed critical tasks, communicated with municipalities, and kept projects moving forward. Colleagues noted that he never sought recognition for his efforts and simply focused on doing what needed to be done. His commitment did not go unnoticed, as municipal partners also expressed appreciation for his responsiveness and dedication.
Supporting Municipalities Across the Delaware Valley
As a Code Specialist, Michael serves as the primary point of contact, Building Code Official, Zoning Officer, and Floodplain Administrator for East Coventry Township, West Pikeland Township, and Red Hill Borough.
His responsibilities include:
- Processing and issuing permits
- Conducting zoning reviews
- Assisting residents with zoning questions and concerns
- Investigating complaints
- Performing code enforcement duties
- Managing complex subdivision and land development reviews
- Preparing and issuing Notices of Violation when necessary
- Representing municipalities before District Courts, Planning Commissions, Zoning Hearing Boards, and governing bodies
In addition to supporting the communities he serves directly, Michael is also a trusted resource for colleagues handling zoning and code enforcement matters in Lower Frederick Township, Worcester Township, and Schwenksville Borough.
Managing Major Development Projects
Michael currently oversees two significant residential developments that will shape their communities for years to come.
In Red Hill Borough, he is managing permitting efforts for Creekside Village, a development consisting of 33 single-family homes and 32 townhouses that is approximately 50 percent permitted. In East Coventry Township, he oversees Coventry Run, a 155-home subdivision expected to remain under construction for the next several years.
As land development activity continues to grow in East Coventry, additional projects may be on the horizon, creating new opportunities and challenges for municipal officials and developers alike.
Helping Communities Plan for the Future
Beyond day-to-day zoning and code enforcement responsibilities, Michael contributes to long-term planning initiatives that help municipalities prepare for future growth.
Recently, he worked alongside the Township Planner and Planning Commission in East Coventry Township to develop zoning ordinance amendments that better define and strengthen regulations for light and heavy industrial uses.
In West Pikeland Township, he has supported efforts to transition municipal codes to an electronic format and has been involved in ongoing discussions regarding future police and administrative facilities.
Michael also recognizes the contributions of those around him, crediting Mike Schmutz for his outstanding work as the primary inspector on both Creekside Village and Coventry Run.
A Team-First Approach
One of Michael’s favorite aspects of his role is the variety of work each day brings. Whether he is reviewing development plans, assisting residents, enforcing ordinances, or supporting fellow team members, he values the opportunity to make a positive impact in the communities he serves.
He also appreciates the strong culture within Isett and the support he receives from colleagues across the Delaware Valley office. Michael credits his teammates for helping make even the most challenging days easier and enjoys the camaraderie fostered through company traditions like the annual company picnic and winter celebration.
