Values in Action | Sean Emberson, CZO

Earlier this year, Sean Emberson turned a routine assignment into a meaningful act of Service—demonstrating exactly what it means to live Barry Isett & Associates’ values.

While responding to snow-covered sidewalk complaints, Sean realized that one of the properties belonged to an elderly gentleman. Instead of issuing a citation for noncompliance, he chose a more thoughtful solution. Sean picked up a shovel and cleared the sidewalk himself.

The township appreciated the solution, and the property owner was incredibly grateful. Most importantly, the moment reflected the spirit of service that guides our work every day.

Because of this act, and the values it represents, we are proud to recognize Sean as our February Values in Action winner.

A Role Focused on Service and Problem Solving

Sean serves as a Property Maintenance and Zoning Specialist in our Code Services & Plan Review department, supporting multiple municipalities across southeastern Pennsylvania. His work includes reviewing and adjudicating zoning applications in Warminster Township and conducting rental inspections when needed.

He also investigates code violations and complaints for Newtown Township and Newtown Borough. When necessary, Sean assists Warminster Township with these same services, helping municipalities navigate complex regulations with clarity and consistency.

Building Better Municipal Resources

In addition to his day‑to‑day municipal responsibilities, Sean has been collaborating with David Backenstoes, Business Application Administrator in our IT department, on the development of a municipal “Playbook” within Vantagepoint, Isett’s CRM software.

The goal of the Playbook is to serve as a one‑stop resource for each municipality. It consolidates relevant information and establishes a single source of truth for services and workflows.

Once complete, this tool will support Isett associates both in the field, through the Vantagepoint app, and in the office. The result will be improved efficiency and more consistent operations across municipalities.

Collaboration, Learning, and Growth

Sean enjoys collaborating with his colleagues and values the experience they bring to the table. Their willingness to share knowledge has helped him continue developing his expertise in zoning and code enforcement.

What Sean enjoys most about his role is problem solving. Whether he is reviewing zoning applications, interpreting ordinances, or addressing code issues, he takes pride in bringing clarity to complex situations.

Every project is different, and that variety keeps the work engaging. It also provides ongoing opportunities to learn and grow.

Living Our Values Every Day

Sean’s willingness to go above and beyond, whether through thoughtful problem solving or a simple act of service, embodies the values that guide Barry Isett & Associates.

Congratulations, Sean, and thank you for the positive impact you make in the communities we serve!
