2021 Volunteer Challenge Project – Matthew’s Garden at The Salvation Army

Now in it’s 12th year, the annual Volunteer Challenge hosted by Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley brings together nonprofit agencies and local businesses to complete a project.

For several years, the team at Barry Isett & Associates has come together in support of Matthew’s Garden at the Salvation Army’s Hospitality House. The space holds a vegetable garden and flower garden and the bounty of vegetables is used by the kitchens at the Hospitality House.

The 2021 project was spread out over several days — weeding the beds and cleanup preceded the spreading of mulch. Our team returned a week later to plant herbs, vegetables and flowers. The effort was not possible without the generous support of our associates and donation of plants from Dan Schantz Greenhouse.

Volunteers included Aniyah Williams, Christine Hower, Ashley Eichlin, Jim Mazeika, Ryan Kern, Kevin Campbell, intern Noah Reimert, AJ Schwartz, Ben Craig, Charley Myers and his very handy rototiller, Adam Smith, Tracey Torres, Tess Strayer and Francee Fuller.
