Glass Blowing

This featured piece is a favorite of Courtney’s as it demonstrates the influence of light and how it affects the way glass can be observed, interpreted, and experienced. When the light source is above, you see the opaque coloring and design pattern. When the light source is behind the glass, it allows you to see the darker, translucent undertones within the pattern. The shadow provides an additional experience for the viewer and creative expression for the artist.

Son of Lori Girvan, Aaron is a 17-year-old artist whose work below was entered into the Rossetti Art Exhibit at Luzerne County Community College’s Schulman Gallery, which ran March 3 to April 10. He received Second Place in the mixed media (pen and ink) category and Third Place for colored pencil. He also received a gift certificate for art supplies—one of the sponsored memorial awards for the colored pencil drawing.
