Did you know that heart disease is the overall leading cause of death of women in the US?
It’s true. Across all age groups heart disease accounts for 21.8% of deaths in women, with it accounting for 27.7% of deaths in women aged 85 and older, 19.9% of women aged 65-84, 16.3% of women aged 45-63 and 9% of women aged 20-44 years old.
The CDC acknowledges that despite increasing awareness in recent years, only about half (56%) of women recognize that heart disease in their number 1 killer.
To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease & stroke as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
On Friday, February 4, Isett Associates will join together to wear red in support of enhancing awareness of heart disease and stroke. The team also has the chance to purchase raffle tickets for a gift basket with all funds to be donated to the American Heart Association.
