Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. recently hosted Parkland School District‘s Student Leadership Council of twenty 8th to 12th grade students from the three secondary schools. The Student Leadership Council began in 2022 under Superintendent Dr. Mark Madson to provide leadership opportunities for the group of promising students and create a chance to work on projects that will improve their school’s environment. This year’s theme is “Building Culture” and the students meet monthly in their school buildings and as a district-wide group to give the District leadership team feedback and updates on project ideas, sometimes traveling to organizations and businesses to learn about the culture within the workplace.
Isett’s Brandon Trate and Kim Kyra were joined by Silvia Hoffman, Ali Higgs, and Declan Torrence from MKSD Architects to share information about each company with a focus on how a great company culture leads to successful teams and projects. The goal was to encourage the students to think of creative ways to help build a strong culture in their schools and possibly even inspire them to work in the engineering or architectural fields. MKSD shared drawings of the new Parkland SD Operations Center that they are designing, which will house maintenance and custodial services, the technology department, the food services division, and the safety and security division. The Operations Center is expected to open in 2024.
