Centre Park Revitalization
The City of Reading and the Centre Park Historic District envisioned transforming Centre Park into a vibrant destination for residents as well as visitors. Barry Isett & Associates, Inc. (Isett) was hired to provide design engineering services, construction documents, and construction administration.
Improvements included new paved walks, a water fountain as the central focal point feature, landscaping, ornamental lighting, interpretive signage, and low decorative walls and columns. The improvements were designed to be Victorian period-appropriate, blending seamlessly with the community’s existing architecture and preserving the area’s historical integrity.
Centre Park has been transformed into a focal point for organized events and local gatherings. Isett’s landscape architects worked with the Centre Park committee and residents to develop a design which met the desire of most residents. The planting palette offers a wide range of perennials, bulbs, and woody plants to provide year round interest.
