The Bermudian Springs School District, which serves residents of five municipalities in Adams County, began construction of a new 140,000-square-foot middle school this spring to serve students in fifth through eighth grades. Designed by Crabtree Rohrbaugh & Associates, Inc., with Barry Isett & Associates providing the structural and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design, the new school features two two-story academic wings separated by a lobby and outdoor courtyard. Each grade level will have its own learning commons with all grades having use of an expansive technology and science commons.
Building features include art and music education classrooms; a cafeteria and kitchen; a multi-purpose room; a gymnasium with boys’ and girls’ locker rooms; administrative and meeting space; and a secure vestibule entry system. With a construction value of 38 million dollars, the school is expected to open in the first quarter of 2022.
Isett associates involved in the project are John Lewis, PE; Lucy Paretti, PE; Bruce Andrews, PE; Bridget Leger, EIT; and Ryan Rupp.
