West End Place Apartments
Project Information
West End Place Apartments
The redevelopment of West End Place transforms a long-vacant, historically significant property into a vibrant mixed-use residential community that supports Lancaster’s ongoing revitalization. Set within a dense urban environment, the project required careful coordination to preserve the former St. Joseph’s Hospital exterior while modernizing the interior for 185 apartment units and retail space. Barry Isett & Associates (Isett) provided engineering and consulting services that enabled this adaptive reuse, helping deliver new housing options in a walkable downtown location while maintaining the building’s historic identity.
The project holds strong community significance, honoring a landmark with deep local connections while reactivating it to serve current and future residents. By introducing new housing, amenities, and commercial space, West End Place contributes to economic growth, increases downtown activity, and supports long-term smart growth goals for the region. Isett’s involvement helped create lasting value by blending preservation with modern functionality, resulting in a development that benefits both the client and the broader Lancaster community.
